Thanks for your interest in selling at Stone Soup! We consign your high quality, clean, brand name clothes, shoes, toys, books and baby gear.

PLEASE READ THE COMPLETE SELLING GUIDE below before making an appointment at the bottom of this page.

We sell the best children's clothing we can put our hands on. We carefully hand-select our entire inventory to guarantee a selection of clean, stylish & high-quality goods.

We typically DO NOT consign: Carters, Cat n Jack, Old Navy, Walmart brands, Target brands or other discount brands.

We consign what we believe will sell in the store. Please be understanding if we cannot consign your items.

We deal with brands with proven quality and durability. Popular brands include Tea Collection, Mini Boden, Patagonia, REI, Athleta, Columbia, Gap, Hanna Anderson, Kate Quinn, Me & Henry, Sorel, See Kai Run, Nike, Native, Keen, Bogs, Converse, Vans etc. We also love organic baby brands! We sometimes make exceptions depending on our current inventory. Unsure about a specific brand or item? Please ask!

Our consigning Policies (Updated Novemeber 2024)

The Basics

  • All items must be CLEAN and recently laundered. If an item can’t be washed, please clean it with a damp cloth or sanitizing wipe. Please remember to clean the bottoms of shoes.

  • We don’t take items with stains, tears, missing or loose buttons, fading, broken zippers, etc.

  • Untie knots on drawstrings & shoe laces.

  • Neatly fold items and place in bins, laundry baskets or paper bags. Please do not bring items in plastic bags, they break and are difficult to repack.

  • Gear should be clean, complete & in working condition with all necessary parts, including instruction manuals if available. Come ready to show us how the item works, how to set it up & break it down.

  • Please bring batteries if needed so we know the item works.

What We Consign

  • Children’s clothing, sizes infant to 14 in girls, infant to 12 in boys, see brands above. We are especially selective with infant sizes (0-24 months) and big kid sizes (12-14), so we will take only the cleanest, nicest, and most current styles.

  • Maternity clothes in recent styles and excellent condition.

  • Gently used wooden toys and educational or activity-based toys such as play kitchens, games, blocks, science kits etc.

  • Books published after 1985 in great condition.

  • Complete puzzle sets up to 150 pieces, more is OK if they are new in a sealed box.

  • Strollers, highchairs, pack-n-plays, carriers, baby bouncers & swings, and other gear that is no more than 5 years old (exceptions may apply). Please call before bringing in such items to check that we have space.

We do not consign:

  • Items that may contain lead, such as children’s jewelry and painted wooden or metal toys. Old books may also contain lead.

  • Flimsy or cheap toys, or toys that are easily broken into small parts.

  • Stuffies or toys that have buttons, eyes or noses or other small parts that are not securely fastened and could present a choking hazard for young children.

  • Recalled items

Due to the number of items we process in a day, any items we choose not to accept, or that you decide not to sell, needs to be picked up within 24 hours.. We do not have the room to store unaccepted items. Thank you for understanding!

How You Get Paid

We pay with cash or store credit. Store credit becomes available as your items sell. OR you can opt for a cash payout at the end of your consignment period.

Store credit is valid for 12 months.

For most items, including clothing, shoes and toys your payout will be 35% of the price that the item sells for. This is a HIGHER payout than we were able to offer when we bought items out right. (The payout was 20-30% of what we hoped the item would sell for). Books have a lower consignment payout at 20%.

For gear, such as strollers, high end play kitchens, cribs etc. we can usually offer 50% payout. This is IF the item comes in in excellent condition, ready to sell.

Label all containers with your name.

Drop off your items between 10 am & 12 noon on your appointment day. We will call or text you when your drop off has been processed and it’s time to pick up your remaining items that we did not take.

FIRST TIME SELLERS: We ask that new sellers bring no more than 30 items. This way, we can get you acquainted with our policies. As a first-time seller, you will be asked to provide identification when we accept them for consignment. We keep a record of your name and address. This is required by Oregon law (ORS 646 A.060).   

ESTABLISHED SELLERS: Established sellers are limited to two bins or four paper bags.

Here are some general guidelines regarding the purchase of seasonal items:

Spring: January to March

Summer: April to June

Fall: July to September

Winter: October to December

Swimwear and high quality shoes are welcome year-round.
