We buy and sell the best children's clothing, shoes, toys and gear in a clean and friendly environment. We carefully hand-select our entire inventory to guarantee a selection of clean, stylish & high-quality goods.

We typically DO NOT buy: Carters, Cat n Jack, Old Navy, Walmart brands, Target brands or other discount brands.

We purchase what we believe will sell in the store. Please be understanding if we cannot purchase your items.

We buy brands with proven quality and durability. Popular brands include Tea Collection, Mini Boden, Patagonia, REI, Athleta, Columbia, Gap, Hanna Anderson, Kate Quinn, Me & Henry, Sorel, See Kai Run, Nike, Native, Keen, Bogs, Converse, Vans etc. We also love organic baby brands! We sometimes make exceptions depending on our current inventory. Unsure about a specific brand or item? Please ask!

Our Buying Policies (Updated march 2024)

The Basics

  • All items must be CLEAN and recently laundered. If an item can’t be washed, please clean it with a damp cloth or sanitizing wipe. Please remember to clean the bottoms of shoes.

  • We don’t buy items with stains, tears, missing or loose buttons, fading, broken zippers, etc.

  • Untie knots on drawstrings & shoe laces.

  • Neatly fold items and place in bins, laundry baskets or paper bags. Please do not bring items in plastic bags, they break and are difficult to repack.

  • Gear should be clean, complete & in working condition with all necessary parts, including instruction manuals if available. Come ready to show us how the item works, how to set it up & break it down.

  • Please bring batteries if needed so we know the item works.

What We Buy

We buy:

  • Children’s clothing, sizes infant to 14, see brands above. We are especially selective with infant sizes (0-24 months) and big kid sizes (12-14), so we will take only the cleanest, nicest, and most current styles.

  • Maternity clothes in recent styles and excellent condition.

  • Gently used wooden toys and educational or activity-based toys such as play kitchens, games, blocks, science kits etc.

  • Books published after 1985 in great condition.

  • Complete puzzle sets up to 100 pieces, more is OK if they are new in a sealed box.

  • Strollers, highchairs, pack-n-plays, carriers, baby bouncers & swings, and other gear that is no more than 5 years old (exceptions may apply). Please call before bringing in such items to check that we have space. Depending on demand, we may decide to either buy the item outright or consign it. See below regarding consignment.

We do not purchase:

  • Items that may contain lead, such as children’s jewelry and painted wooden or metal toys. Old books may also contain lead.

  • Flimsy or cheap toys, or toys that are easily broken into small parts.

  • Stuffed animals or toys that have buttons, eyes or noses or other small parts that are not securely fastened and could present a choking hazard for young children.

  • Recalled items

Due to the number of items we process in a day, any items we choose not to accept, or that you decide not to sell, needs to be picked up within 24 hours of the offer. We do not have the room to store unaccepted items. Thank you for understanding!

How You Get Paid

We buy your items outright. We pay with cash or store credit. You need not wait until your items sell!

After carefully inspection of the items, we text you the offer. The store credit offer is 20% more than the cash. You choose which one works better for you. Store credit is valid for 12 months.

For larger items, we may consider consignment. If we determine that you have an item appropriate for consignment, we will provide a Consignment Agreement for you to review. Consignment prices are based on the sales history of similar items, brand name, condition, and style. Unlike our buying program, you get paid when the consigned item sells. Consignment profit is split 50/50 between you and Stone Soup.

Label all containers with your name.

Drop off your items between 10 am & 12 noon on your appointment day. We will call or text you later in the day with an offer.

FIRST TIME SELLERS: We ask that new sellers bring no more than 30 items. This way, we can get you acquainted with our policies. As a first-time seller, you will be asked to provide identification when we buy items or accept them for consignment. We keep a record of your name and address. This is required by Oregon law (ORS 646 A.060).   

ESTABLISHED SELLERS: Established sellers are limited to two bins or four paper bags.

Here are some general guidelines regarding the purchase of seasonal items:

Spring: January to March

Summer: April to June

Fall: July to September

Winter: October to December

Swimwear is welcome year-round.
